Active ingredient: Benzalkonium chloride (BZK) - 0.13%

M ost quaternary ammonium compounds such as BZK are believed to act by disrupting the cell membrane or viral envelope . BZK is also good against  fungi ,  amoebas and algae. It possesses surfactant properties, dissolving the lipid phase of the tear film and increasing drug penetration In November 2020 the  Journal of Hospital Infection published a study on benzalkonium chloride formulations; it was found that laboratory and commercial disinfectants with as little as 0.13% benzalkonium chloride inactivated the SARS-CoV-2 virus within 15 seconds of contact, even in the presence of a soil or hard water. As a hand sanitizer, use of BZK may be advantageous over ethanol in some situations because it has significantly more residual antibacterial action on the skin after initial application. Benzalkonium chloride has demonstrated persistent antimicrobial activity for up to four hours after contact whereas ethanol-based sanitizer demonstrates skin protection for only 10 minutes post-application .

Anti-Fungal: Tea Tree Oil:

Tea tree oil comes from the leaves of  Melaleuca alternifolia , a small tree native to Queensland and New South Wales, Australia. Tea tree oil contains several compounds, including terpinen-4-ol, that have been shown to kill certain bacteria, viruses, and fungi . It has been used as a traditional medicine by the Aboriginal people of Australia for centuries. These native Australians crush tea tree leaves to extract the oil, then inhale it to treat coughs and colds or apply it directly to the skin for healing. Tea tree oil can be used to treat and disinfect minor cuts and abrasions by killing  S. aureus and other bacteria that can cause infection in open wounds .
